Launch of Blue Door Publishing


Blue Door Publishing, a co-operative enterprise seeking to publish good literature that commercial publishing houses eschew, was launched at an event held at the Seven Dials Club, London,  on September 14.

This new imprint is the brain child of Jane Kirwan and Pamela Johnson, both published and award- and prize-winning writers. The aim is to facilitate the publication and marketing of work of literary merit, whether poetry, memoir, novel or short story. Writers whose work is accepted for publication will be required to have their work professionally edited and designed. Thereafter, they will have access to the skills of other members of the co-operative and will be expected to make their skills available to their colleagues. Marketing will largely be through the medium of social media, backed up by reviews and personal recommendations.


At the launch event, Jane Kirwan read from her new novel, Don’t Mention Her, and Pamela Johnson from hers, Taking in Water. The evening was attended by approximately a hundred people, including novelists, poets and publishers.
