SWiM Cinema, the new global online platform and exclusive distribution channel for original artumentary films is proud to announce its launch with an exclusive screening of its first film, REVEALING MR MAUGHAM.

The film exposes the life one of literature’s most prolific and influential gay writers – W. Somerset Maugham (author of Of Human Bondage, The Painted Veil, The Razor’s Edge and dozens of other classic stories), told beautifully by filmmaker and SWiM founder, Michael House.

REVEALING MR. MAUGHAM (2012) is in English with options for subtitles in French, Spanish, Japanese and Arabic or with English subtitles for the hearing impaired. The film’s duration is 84 mins.

SWiM Cinema is pioneering a new concept in artumentaries – a unique, truly global, multilingual, online platform for films that take you below the surface of creativity. It will present artumentaries on literature, cinema, music, photography, theatre, films of avant-garde stage plays, concerts & international art events, investigating the undercurrents of modern creativity to audiences across the world.

SWiM (www.swimcinema.com) offers immediate HD file downloads (from March 24, 2012) for just €14.99, viewable on iPad, iPhone, Digital TVs or a computer. Included with each download is a SWiM POOL PASS which gives private access to exclusive bonus material relating to Somerset Maugham and other SWiM releases.

“The concept behind SWiM is to provide a direct international distribution channel focused on promoting a deeper understanding of the arts and the processes of creativity through artumentary film, a platform for inspiring, creative voices that are frequently ignored by mainstream media.

Importantly, I also wanted to create a truly global platform, offering viewers worldwide the opportunity to experience films and performances from various countries via multi-language subtitling.

Moreover, the concept is not purely commercial. I want to advance green film production and distribution methods, for example, and to support non-profit organizations in promoting art education and ‘give back’ to artistic communities,” says Michael House, Founder of SWiM Cinema.

SWiMs artumentaries have been screened in the most prestigious film festivals in the world such as The International Telluride Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival & FIFA Montréal Festival.

SWiMs second release, in Spring/Summer 2012, will be the intrnationally acclaimed artumentary on French film icon Jacques Tati ‘THE MAGNIFICENT TATi’. Later in 2012, SWiM will release LOLITA’s BUTTERFLY, a new artumentary on the scientific work of literary icon Vladimir Nabokov (author of ‘Lolita’). This will be followed by an original French stage play filmed exclusively for SWiM audiences.
